| Department Description |
The Carolina Population Center is a community of scholars and professionals collaborating on interdisciplinary research and methods that advance understanding of population issues. The Center extends its resources to path-breaking work across the US and in more than 50 other countries and makes its findings available to a global audience. A nationally recognized training program educates the next generation of population scholars. The MEASURE Evaluation Project in the Carolina Population Center is a large international project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) that focuses on monitoring and evaluation of population, health and nutrition programs and improving health sector decision-making. The MEASURE Evaluation Project is the largest social science project ever awarded to UNC. The project has a headquarters at UNC-CH and partner organizations but has seven country offices and works in over thirty-seven countries at a time. |

| Position Description |
The Project Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to the operations unit and technical staff. Support provided includes general office management, editing and formatting of documents, reports and presentations, filing, reproduction, scheduling, note taking and other general administrative support tasks necessary to assist staff with accomplishing their work. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
| Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities |
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word is required. |
| Preferred Qualifications |
Prefer Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint and Publisher. The ability to communicate effectively with technical and administrative staff, both verbally and in writing. Excellent working knowledge of office management techniques and strong multi-tasking and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing meeting minutes and other documents. The ability to communicate and collect information from international staff, some of whom do not speak English as their first language, in a culturally competent manner. |
