Position Summary

We are searching for a post-doctoral scholar trained in economics (health, labor, agricultural, or applied) with strong econometric training interested in an array of nutrition-related tax and food policy research. The research will take place at the Carolina Population Center with the Global Food Research Program (http://globalfoodresearchprogram.web.unc.edu/) team in collaboration with two economists, Shu Wen Ng and Barry Popkin, alongside a large team of other scholars and researchers. The group is focused on both policy-related nutrition, food purchase and other longitudinal research in both the US and globally. A significant portion of the work will focus on US issues ranging from taxation studies to evaluation of program changes in WIC, SNAP and other major food and nutrition programs. There may be similar work in other countries in collaboration with in-country scholars with possible international travel needed. The work will have the potential for translational and policy impact within the US and globally. Additionally, there will be ample opportunities for connecting with a wider network of global scholars and career development. The post-doctoral position will be for 2 years with a possibility of extension to 3 years. Either Drs. Shu Wen Ng or Barry Popkin can be directly contacted via email if desired.
