| Position Summary: |
| The Measure Evaluation Project is an international
health, monitoring and evaluation project with offices at the Carolina
Population Center, UNC-Chapel Hill (www.cpc.unc.edu). The Research
Associate will provide technical assistance on issues related to
monitoring and evaluation of population, health, and nutrition programs
including HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria, analyze survey data, prepare
summaries and reports, assist with development of tools and methods to
be used in monitoring and evaluation of population and health programs
in developing countries, and create and present technical presentations.
The Research Associate will participate in all aspects of the design,
implementation, analysis, and dissemination of MEASURE Evaluation
research and evaluations. This person will also provide capacity
building support on monitoring and evaluation for in-country research
and evaluation partners. An important role of this person will include
identifying potential research areas that can be examined with existing
data at MEASURE Evaluation and other data sources, leading data analysis
of identified areas, conducting costing studies, and presenting
findings to national, regional, and global audiences. The position will
report to the Deputy Director. |

| Education Requirements: |
|
| Ph.D. in Health Economics, Sociology, Public Health, Demography or related discipline is required. |
| |
| Qualifications and Experience: |
|
| Demonstrated advanced skills in quantitative methods
of data analysis and strong writing and communication skills required.
Experience in economic evaluation and costing studies is preferred. A
minimum of 2 years experience in developing countries and the ability to
work effectively in developing countries required. A thorough
understanding of the determinants of healthy outcomes and individual
level decision-making processes related to these outcomes is preferred.
Teaching experience is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills, including
the ability to work effectively with other project staff, funding
agencies and US based and international colleagues is required.
Experience in management and analysis of household survey data and
experience in management and analysis of facility-based data preferred.
Fluency in English and availability to travel internationally at least
20% time annually required. Fluency in a second language (French,
Spanish, Portuguese) is preferred. |
