Description of Work

The MEASURE Evaluation project at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is
looking for a temporary, part-time (hourly) designer. Duties include, but are not
limited to, the following:
•Design and layout print projects such as technical reports, brochures, factsheets,
and briefs
•Implement designs in existing templates in InDesign.
•Format PowerPoint slides and reports in Word using styles.
•Work directly with clients on their projects or under the supervision of the project’s
senior graphic designer/creative director.
•Develop original illustrations and infographics.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Computer skills on a Macintosh platform. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
(InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) is essential, as is use of styles in Word. Must
demonstrate mastery of design principles through a portfolio of print materials.
Strong design, layout, typography and communication skills, both written and
verbally is essential. Knowledge of print production and basic web development is a
plus.
This candidate must have thorough knowledge of the principles and methods of
planning, designing, and producing visually appealing products that communicate a
clear message to target audiences. The selected candidate will be a self-sufficient
designer with an excellent portfolio, have a strong sense of typography, a proven
track record formatting technical reports with many graphics and tables, and be
extremely detail-oriented. The selected candidate must have demonstrated technical
knowledge, have good communication skills, and have experience working within
specific time frames and budgets.
