| Position Summary: |
| MEASURE
Evaluation, a global USAID-funded project focusing on population,
health and nutrition monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities
based at the Carolina Population Center (www.cpc.unc.edu), University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has an immediate opening for a
Research Associate for the position of Capacity Building and Training
(CBT) Specialist. The CBT Specialist will be responsible for the
development, implementation and evaluation of a capacity building
strategy and activities to support project objectives and results. The
CBT Specialist will work with senior management in the implementation
of the project capacity building strategy and activities. The position
will report to the project Deputy Director for capacity building. The
position will be based at MEASURE Evaluation headquarters located in
Chapel Hill, NC. |

| Education Requirements: |
|
| Ph.D.
degree in Public Health or in a related discipline is preferable,
although a Masters degree will be considered if the applicant has 7-10
years or more of relevant international assistance in the public health
arena and capacity building experience. |

| Qualifications and Experience: |
|
| Experience
in monitoring and evaluation of health, population and nutrition
programs in developing countries and extensive training and experience
in strategic planning, institutional capacity building and
organizational design/development required. Thorough understanding of
the capacity building needs of developing country agencies and thorough
knowledge of capacity building and training strategies and approaches
that can be implemented to meet those needs desirable. Strong writing,
communication and interpersonal skills required. Ability to work
independently; manage projects on a daily basis with minimal
supervision; work effectively with other project staff, funding
agencies including USAID and other international agencies; and work
effectively in developing country environments required. Fluency in
English required; second language, Spanish or French, highly preferred.
Availability to travel internationally 10-20% of time, plus several
trips within the U.S. annually required. |
