Kenneth A. Bollen is a sociometrician and one of CPC's statistical consultants. Structural equation modeling with latent variables is his primary research interest in statistics. His statistical work focuses on latent variable models and longitudinal data analysis methods. He has applied these techniques to a variety of population issues including the effect of fetal nutrition on health in later life, the measurement of permanent income/socioeconomic status and their relation to fertility in developing countries, and on the relation between objective and subjective measures of family planning quality. Past population work has been on mortality (suicides and motor vehicle fatalities), aging (attitude measurement), and cross-national analyses of fertility trends.
