Shelah S. Bloom's research interests focus on population and reproductive health outcomes Asia and Africa. Her areas of specialization are HIV/AIDS in Asia and Africa, maternal health and the reproductive health of men and women. Currently, she is the PI of an NICHD funded study titled "Behavioral Dynamics of HIV/AIDS in Uttar Pradesh, India" that will describe the potential for the spread of HIV/AIDS in Uttar Pradesh by using a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods. She is also a monitoring and evaluation specialist with the Measure Evaluation Project. Her work on the project includes the M&E of HIV/AIDS national and subnational programs, training in the M&E of HIV/AIDS and population, health and nutrition programs, and the evaluation of new programs to integrate family planning with wider maternal and child health services.
