Laura Linnan

Laura Linnan, Assistant Professor of Health Behavior and Health Education at UNC-CH, plans, delivers, and evaluates applied health promotion interventions within a wide range of community settings including worksites, libraries, beauty salons, and other locations. She has been an investigator on 25 studies funded by National Institutes of Health, American Cancer Society, Office on Women's Health, and others. The majority of her research has involved intervening to improve worker health among adults of all ages. She recently was invited to write a review paper on physical activity and the health of older adults for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation initiative on physical activity and older adults. She is particularly interested in understanding the dynamic interplay between contextual influences (e.g., social and physical environment) and individual behavior, and subsequent health outcomes (specifically, chronic diseases and related behavioral risks) among adults of all ages.
