How to change publication state
Step-by-step tutorial using Plone 3.0
By default, newly created items are private. After approval they may be published and visible to anyone with access. To move an item through the publishing process, you will need to change its state.
- Click
in the top left corner of your screen.
- Enter your user name and password and log in.
- Navigate to the content item that you want to change. The green border around the content item shows the actions that are available to you. The menu in the upper right corner begins: "State:"
- Click on the arrow in the upper right corner. The menu will show the states that are available to you.
- If you choose "Submit for publication," you will see an info box letting you know that the state was changed,
and your editing tab will disappear while you await feedback from the reviewer.
- The reviewer will receive notice that the item is awaiting review. When the reviewer is finished, he or she will change the state to move the item along to the next step in the process. These are the states available to the reviewer:
- If the reviewer approves, he or she may publish, and the item will be publicly available. Or the reviewer may send back the item to you for editing. Your editing tab will reappear.
- Edit as necessary and change the state again to "Submit for publication." By continuing in this way, you and your colleagues can move the item toward the final version worthy of publication.
For more detailed discussion of the publication state, see the Publication section of the Plone 3.0 manual.
