IDOT Predoctoral Training In Maternal and Child Obesity: Program Overview
Academic Year 2009-10
This program will provide interdisciplinary training for doctoral students interested in pursuing research careers related to maternal and/or child obesity. Reflecting the unique nature of the Inderdisciplinary Obesity Center (IDOC), trainees and faculty are drawn from many departments. A focus on obesity-related issues linked with mothers, children and adolescents must be central to each trainee's program of study, but doctoral students from any UNC-CH department are eligible to apply. Select MCOB Traineeship Application to apply. IDOT Faculty represent the following departments.
| Cell and Molecular Physiology | Journalism and Mass Communication |
| City and Regional Planning | Nursing |
| Economics | Nutrition |
| Epidemiology | Pediatrics |
| Genetics | Psychiatry |
| Health Behavior and Health Education | Sociology |
All IDOT predoctoral trainees must be enrolled in programs leading to a doctoral degree at UNC-CH. For the 2008-09 academic year, trainees will be selected from among current first- and second-year doctoral students in one of the departments listed above.
