Palliative Care

MEASURE Evaluation is undertaking a large scale public health evaluation of palliative care programs in Uganda and Kenya. The study is being carried out by King's College London in conjunction with the African Palliative Care Association in Uganda and the Kenya Hospice and Palliative Care Association. The study will provide two levels of information based on evaluations in the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) sites: individual patient longitudinal information will be examined for associations with clinical and quality of life outcomes in six sites in Kenya and six sites in Uganda; and, facility-level profiles of six hundred programs in each country to assist in identifying program-level areas for success and/or improvement. This is the first public health evaluation of palliative care in emergency plan supported programs.
