Abstract:This overview booklet describes the rationale, methods, outputs, and uses of a sample vital registration system that includes active follow-up of deaths in the community to determine their likely causes. This system is called Sample Vital Registration with Verbal Autopsy, or SAVVY. SAVVY is a library of best practice methods for improving the quality of vital statistics where high coverage of civil registration and/or good cause of death data are not available. SAVVY manuals, training guides, and related materials are also available on the MEASURE Evaluation Web site.
This document is not available in print from MEASURE Evaluation.
