Abstract:

Sample Vital Registration with Verbal Autopsy (SAVVY) is a library of best practice methods for improving the quality of vital statistics where high coverage of civil registration and/or good cause of death data are not available. This manual provides both an overview and a step-by-step discussion of the SAVVY data processing system. There are three main data processing applications needed to support SAVVY. Each of these three focus on one of the three components of the SAVVY system: baseline census, verbal autopsy, and census update.
