MEASURE Evaluation is pleased to announce a regional workshop on Geographic Information Systems (GIS), titled "GIS Applications in Public Health,” for French-speaking professionals. The workshop is sponsored by the Centre Africain d'Etudes Supérieures en Gestion (CESAG) in collaboration with MEASURE Evaluation, and will take place March 25 - April 5, 2013, in Dakar, Senegal.
This workshop offers an intensive training that covers fundamental concepts and tools for monitoring and evaluating family planning, maternal health, child health, STD/HIV/AIDS and nutrition programs. The course includes modules on:
- Fundamental concepts of geographic information systems (GIS)
- Use of GIS in public health, in particular HIV programs
- Preparation of GIS databases and GIS products from provided data
- The use of GPS
- The application software such as QGIS, OpenGeoDa, DHIS-2 and Excel to Google Earth which are all free logiciels
Workshop delivered in French.
This course targets mid-level health and population officers, program managers, and other professionals involved with the implementation of population, health, and nutrition programs.
