No dates scheduled at this time.
The training course "Improving RHIS performance and use of information for health system management" is an international course on comprehensive assessment of information use with an emphasis on action planning. This training course on Routine Health Information Systems (RHIS) meets an urgent need identified in the field for district oriented RHIS capacity building, to help professionals use RHIS more effectively.
The main objective of this course is to provide rapid transfer of knowledge and skills in RHIS assessment and action planning, with a particular focus on improving RHIS performance for evidence-based decision making at both the national and district levels. The course is a two-week residential program, and will take place in Pretoria, the capital of South Africa. The course is built on Prism conceptual framework, which proposes that behavioral and organizational aspects of RHIS are as important determinants as technical determinants such as data quality and system design in defining RHIS performance as a health system management tool. The course will provide a practical tool for assessment and action planning to improve RHIS performance. The course offers an on-line forum to exchange experiences and to interact with experts to obtain continuous support. The course is a collaboration among the School of Health Systems and Public Health, University of Pretoria, the MEASURE Evaluation Project and Health Information Systems Programme (HISP). Please refer to the course brochure above for more details.
