A new study suggests that city leaders aren't capitalizing on the untapped real estate in southeast Raleigh.

"Southeast Raleigh has a number of assets and opportunities," said James Johnson, who is with the University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Business School. "Our basic conclusion is you've got to sell it, you've got to market it better and you've got to, in the process, make sure that all citizens have equal access to opportunity."

"There's about $30 million of untapped consumer spending in the Hispanic community that is leaking out of Wake County," Johnson said Thursday.
