Betty Cogswell is the former director of CPC international programs. A sociologist, her major interests are consumers' perspectives on health care delivery, biosocial aspects of cigarette smoking and nicotine withdrawal, and women and health. Past projects include the International Population-Development Consortium, integrated population development planning, teen perspectives on the health care system, family structure and fertility in Pakistan, and the social well-being of women aged 45-55&emdash;a study of the climacteric. Cogswell has been on the Board of Directors of the Population Institute since 1984.
