Jaroslav Hulka works in human reproduction management. He is a recent chair of the National Medical Committee of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the Complications Committee of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL). Hulka has taught a primary population course on reproductive physiology and is active in teaching and evaluating the safety and efficacy of the newer endoscopic surgical instruments and procedures. He gave an "Update on Sterilization" in the Department of Maternal and Child Health's Spring Seminar Series. The much expanded third edition of his Textbook of Laparoscopy appeared in 1997. Hulka received the 1994 Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons EXCEL Award&emdash;honoring a surgeon who has made outstanding contributions to laparoscopy, endoscopy, and minimally invasive surgery and he was elected to honorary membership of the AAGL in 1997. He was certified for operative laparoscopy and hysteroscopy by the Accreditation Council of Gynecologic Endoscopy in 1997 and was elected an Honorary Member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists&emdash;only three other Americans have had this distinction.
