Whitney Robinson is an assistant professor of epidemiology at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and a member of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. She specializes in obesity development and quantitative methodology for studying race- and gender-based health disparities. One of Dr. Robinson's ongoing research projects investigates why socioeconomic position is a stronger predictor of obesity risk in females than males. Robinson is also analyzing age-period-cohort trends in obesity incidence in the U.S. A third line of research investigates methodology for regression-based modeling in health disparities research. Her dissertation investigated to what extent adolescent behaviors and family demographics could explain why obesity prevalence is much greater in young U.S. Black women than in young U.S. Black men.
