Master Birth History File
The CHNS Birth Master File and Birth History file contain information from the Ever-Married Women Surveys and is supplemented with births identified in the Child Parent Relationship (M12CPREL) file. This file contains only one observation per birth, even though the same birth may have been reported multiple times (no birth history data were collected in 1989 and 1997). The WAVE variable is only used to indicate the last survey for which birth history data are included. This file consolidates Birth History data from 7 survey files:
