Individual Child Care
The CHNS Individual Child Care Master File contains information regarding child care for children age 6 and under in the household. As a longitudinal file, it may contain multiple years of data for each child. A child can have from 1 to 8 years of data as designated by the WAVE variable, which contains the survey year, 1991 to 2011.
This file consolidates outside child care data from seven survey files:

The CHNS Household Child Care Master File contains information regarding child care available to the household. As a longitudinal file, it contains multiple years of data for each household. A Household can have from 1 to 9 years of data as designated by the WAVE variable, which contains the survey years, 1989 to 2011.
This file consolidates household asset data from 9 survey files:
