Education Master File

The CHNS Individual Education Master File contains information regarding education attained by survey individuals. As a longitudinal file, it contains multiple years of data for each individual.  An individual can have from 1 to 8 years of data as designated by the WAVE variable, which contains the survey year, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2006, or 2009. 

This file consolidates individual education data from eleven survey files:

This file represents an extensive effort to clean the data by correcting inconsistencies in the A11 and A12 variables.  Both programmatic and manual correction procedures were used to clean the data based on reviewing all years of education data for an individual.

No effort was made to clean the A11A_93 or the A13 variables.
