Infant Feeding Master File
The CHNS Infant Feeding Master File contains information from the 1989 Infant Feeding Survey and the Infant Feeding Section of the 1991 and 1993 Ever-Married Women Survey. This component of the CHNS Survey was discontinued after 1993. However, the 1989, 1991 and 1993 survey files have been combined, updated, and reformatted to match the longitudinal file and ID format.
The Infant Feeding Master File consolidates three files:

1989 Infant Feeding File
The 1989 Infant Feeding Survey (variables U4-U9) contained
information that
did not fit on other longitudinal files because of ID compatibility issues.
Although the same questions were asked in later surveys, they were
asked regarding the last pregnancy and identified by the mother’s ID
or line number. This 1989 survey was for all children under 7 years of
age and was identified by the child’s ID.
Since this file only
represented the 1989 Survey Year, it is not a longitudinal file.
However, this file has been updated and reformatted to match the
longitudinal file and ID format.
The 1989 Infant Feeding File consolidates only one file:
