Master Medical Insurance File
The CHNS Individual Medical Insurance Master File contains information regarding medical insurance coverage for individuals. As a longitudinal file, it contains multiple years of data for each individual. An individual can have from 1 to 8 years of data as designated by the WAVE variable which contains the survey year, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2006, or 2009.
This file consolidates individual medical insurance data from eleven survey files:
