Data Cleaning
Basic data cleaning has included:
- Corrections to ID variables
- Corrections to the household roster
- Deletion of duplicate records
- Deletion of blank records
- Out-of-range values recoded to missing
Note that only values which are clearly impossible have
been recoded to missing. Decisions concerning extreme values which
remain in the files are left to the discretion of individual
researchers.
Please note that the data file and documentation are largely
complete, but that some of the data are not yet fully prepared, cleaned
and documented. We are continuing to work on some
portions of the data and will release additional pieces of data, make
corrections, and provide additional materials in the future. CHNS users
must understand that the data are subject to correction.
