Master Medical Services contain individual level files and household level files. 

Individual Medical Services Files

The CHNS Individual Medical Services Master File contains information regarding medical services for individuals including current health status, immunizations and preventative care. As a longitudinal file, this file contains multiple years of data for each individual.  An individual can have from 1 to 7 years of data as designated by the WAVE variable which contains the survey year, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, 2004 or 2006. 

This file consolidates individual medical services data from 15 survey files:

Household Medical Service Files

The CHNS Medical Services Master File contains information from the Health and Medical Services section of the Household Surveys. As a longitudinal file, this file contains multiple years of data for each household.  A household can have from 1 to 7 years of data as designated by the WAVE variable which contains the survey year, 1989, 1991, 1993 1997, 2000, 2004 or 2006. 

This file consolidates Medical Services data from 7 survey files:
