PLACE

This course is an introduction to the Priorities for Local AIDS Control Efforts (PLACE) method. PLACE is a rapid assessment tool that applies epidemiologic and social science principles to an assessment of available local and national epidemiologic, geospatial and sociodemographic data in order to identify specific geographic pockets within countries where HIV transmission is most likely to occur. This tool was developed by Sharon Weir, PhD and adapted for the web by Elizabeth Jackson, PhD. For information on obtaining a hard copy of the PLACE method manual, go to https://www.cpc.unc.edu/measure/leadership/place.html.

Multiple Decrement Life Tables

This course introduces the concept of multiple decrement life tables. It provides information on data requirements to construct a multiple decrement life table and provides techniques for computational aspects of life table construction and corresponding summary measures. This course was initially developed by Chirayath Suchindran, PhD and was reviewed and updated by Ilene Speizer, PhD.

Population Analysis for Planners
