Funding Agencies

Current funding for the RLMS has been provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Pension Fund of the Russsian Federation, SIDA, and Vision International People Group Public Limited. Earlier support was provided by the National Institutes of Health (Grant #RO1HD30880), the National Science Foundation (Grant #SES92-23326), the World Bank, the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (through the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics), the Ford Foundation, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The World Bank provided major funding for the first year of the project. In 1993 USAID and the World Bank provided some support to keep research going. The National Science Foundation (SBR-9223326) provided support for collaborative travel during the 1993-95 period. The National Institutes of Health (RO1HD30880) provided partial support for five years, but the bulk of funding since 1995 has come from USAID.
