Research

My primary research interests are in the application of geographic information systems (GIS) and spatial statistics to study how location affects the health of human populations. I am specifically interested in population and environmental drivers related to the spread and persistence of disease in developing countries. My doctoral work focuses on determining the spatial distribution of several diseases (HIV, malaria, anemia) in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as the socio-demographic and environmental drivers that underlie these distributions.
