When possible use UNC E-Commerce and NC State Contract vendors because with them UNC has established agreements that provide better pricing, free ground shipping, and points of contact. Depending upon the item and quantity it  is sometimes more expedient to patronize local businesses.  Remember UNC Chapel Hill is a tax-exempt organization. When making a transaction check to be sure North Carolina sales tax is not charged. E-Commerce

Using E-Commerce vendors streamlines the payment process. Billing appears on the department's monthly MMD statement and simplifies the payment paperwork. Among the vendors represented are:

Fisher Scientific

Consumable lab supplies such as specimen tubes, gloves, specialized marking pens, absorbent pads, equipment such as low temperature freezers (-20̊ & -80̊) and freezer racks.

Staples

Office items useful in a freezer room such as lamps and portable fans. In most cases the items are delivered within 24 hours of order placement Monday-Friday.

State Contracts

Also known as "term contracts", these agreements with participating vendors offer the pricing benefits of mass purchasing power. State contracts lists such items as computers and peripherals, cameras, recording equipment, and software. Always check the State Contract database. Many items can be purchased wherever the best value is given, other things, like cameras, may only be purchased from a state contract vendor.
