Using EndNote to Manage NIHMSID and PMCID Numbers

Steps to modify EndNote X1 Preferences so you can import NIHMSIDs and PMCIDs from PubMed and create a reference list with the NIHMSIDs and PMCIDs displayed.

1. Open EndNote
2. Select Edit > Preferences > Reference Types
3. Make sure "Journal Article" is listed in drop-down box
4. Select Modify Reference Types

5. Scroll to the Custom 6 field, enter "NIHMSID" (without quotes)
6. In Custom 7 field, enter PMCID (without quotes)

7. Select OK twice.
