Manuscript Submitter Service for CPC Researchers

CPC Library staff will submit manuscripts written by CPC fellows, staff, or trainees to PubMed Central. The manuscripts must meet the following criteria:

• Accepted for publication after April 7, 2008
• Accepted in a peer-reviewed journal
• Based on work that was funded by NIH in FY 2008 or beyond
  

In order for CPC Library staff to submit your manuscript we will need the following information and materials:

• Principal investigator name and email address
• Title of the journal
• Title of manuscript
• Grant number(s)
• Confirmation (copy of signed publisher/author agreement/s) that you have copyright clearance to comply with the NIH Public Access Policy
• Manuscript files/s (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TIFF, GIF, JPEG, PDF, etc)
• Embargo/Delay time period (how long after publication can the journal article be made available in PMC as specified by the publisher; 12 months maximum embargo period as per NIH policy)

The NIH Public Access Policy policy states that manuscripts must be deposited to PubMed Central immediately after the manuscript has been accepted for publication. As soon as possible after that, send the information listed above to CPC Library staff at cpclib@unc.edu.

Once the manuscript has been submitted to PubMed Central (via the NIH Manuscript Submission system) by CPC Library staff, the NIHMS will send an email to the PI confirming the receipt of the manuscript and include a link to the submission for final approval. Manuscripts will not be posted to PMC without final approval from the PI.
