• Veronica Siman Betancourt (1988 Ph.D., Sociology, UNC-CH; CPC Predoctoral trainee, 1986-1988)

Veronica Siman Betancourt is the Regional Technical Advisor for the Futures Group in the Latin American Region and resides in El Salvador. She began working with the Futures Group in June 2004 as Country Director for the POLICY project in El Salvador. Her work includes training, research, and technical assistance in reproductive health, including contraceptive security. Prior to her new position, she worked with the government of El Salvador for 14 years in social policy and development.

• Cindy Burbach (1983 DrPH, Maternal and Child Health, UNC-CH; CPC Predoctoral trainee, 1981-1983)

Dr. Burbach is in her third year as the Director of Health Surveillance and Disease Control in the Sedgwick County Health Department that serves the area surrounding Wichita, Kansas. The division includes TB control, lab services, epidemiology and disease investigation, and public health emergency management.
