Description of Work

Dr. Lindsay Smith Taillie is looking to hire a temporary Data Engineer RA to contribute to a project on strategies to reduce meat consumption in the US. Students in computer science or math programs are especially encouraged to apply. Details of the project follow.

Project goal: Create a dataset that consists of images, nutrition info, and other information about grocery store items. This dataset will be used in an online/virtual grocery store to answer questions about decision-making regarding food purchases.

Interviewed applicants will be provided with Python code and asked to complete a brief web scraping task as part of the interview process.

Education and Experience

Four-year degree or equivalent combination of training and experience necessary to perform the work.

Skills required:
• Basic programming (through coursework or relevant experience)
• Data cleaning and processing using Python (Numpy and Pandas)
• Web scraping skills
• Knowledge of basic webpage formats (HTML, CSS)
• Willingness to learn new technologies
• Attention to deal
