SUMMARY:UNC Research Week: Between two FERNs: Information session on the Global Food Research Program’s Fellowship for Exploring Research in Nutrition
DESCRIPTION:Join the Global Food Research Program (GFRP) and two former students at the Carolina Population Center to learn about FERN\, our summer fellowship program for undergraduate students. FERN aims to strengthen the future nutrition research workforce by providing hands-on experience in food and nutrition policy research\, particularly addressing nutrition-related health disparities among historically marginalized communities. Hear from former FERN fellows about their experience and what they’ve gone on to do after the program. Information about FERN eligibility and application dates can be found on the GFRP website.

SUMMARY:UNC Research Week: Add Health Data: An Incredible Resource for UNC Student & Postdoc Research Projects
DESCRIPTION:The National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health is one of UNC’s signature research projects and has provided data for more than 1\,200 student thesis and dissertation projects to date. And… Add Health data are available to YOU! Add Health is also one of the largest social science and health studies in the nation; new Add Health data include survey\, biological\, health\, functioning\, and contextual measures that will appeal to a broad range of researcher interests\, including for those interested in the study of health inequities. \nCome listen to and interact with the Add Health Director and hear from current postdocs and students who are using the data. Add Health data literally include a treasure trove of novel measures for answering questions about health and social life in the United States. The Add Health team will discuss this incredible project\, highlight current uses of the data by postdocs and students\, briefly review key scientific findings that have been based on Add Health data\, and highlight new Add Health data availability and how to access the data. \nWe’ll close the event with an informal Q-A period along with sharing some cookies\, donuts\, and cider. We look forward to seeing you! \nThis is an in-person event.
