Karl E. Bauman is a Fellow Emeritus at the Carolina Population Center.
Karl Bauman has conducted quantitative evaluations of health programs and policies and research on health behavior etiology. His research interests in population include family planning program and policy effects. Bauman has examined the impact of federally subsidized U.S. family planning programs, the influence of legalized abortion on fertility and infant mortality, fundamental assumptions of domestic and international family planning policies and programs, teen contraceptive and sexual behavior, and the use of true experiments to evaluate family planning programs. Current research includes the role of social and psychological factors in adolescent health behavior. Bauman is a frequent consultant to the National Institutes of Health and other agencies. He was an investigator on the EVALUATION Project and the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health.
