Pourya Valizadeh, Agricultural Economics, Applied Economics
I earned my Ph.D. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from the University of Georgia in Summer 2018, and have been working as a postdoctoral research scholar at Carolina Population Center since then. Broadly, my research interests lie in the economics of food policy and applied econometrics. My current research examines the effectiveness of national and targeted price-based policy interventions in improving food purchase patterns and the nutrition of US households. The second component of my research program evaluates the major US food and nutrition assistance programs (e.g., SNAP, WIC, and school meal programs).
