Abstract

Introduction: US policy actions focus on reducing sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) purchases. Yet, there are no studies on trends in overall purchase distribution and how it has changed by key subpopulations. This study examines changes in distributions of total SSB purchases and its major subtypesregular carbonated soft drinks and fruit/sports/energy drinksover 2002-2014, paying attention to the distinction between low, moderate, and high purchasers.
