Biosocial Training Program

FAQs

  1. Can I apply for the Biosocial Training Program if I am not a US citizen/permanent resident? NO. This is an NIH funding requirement.
  2. Do I need to take the required courses? YES.
  3. Do I need 2 preceptors, one from each program “side”? YES.
  4. Might this training program increase time-to-degree? YES.
  5. Can I switch this year from being a funded NICHD Population Trainee to being a funded Biosocial Trainee? NO.
  6. Can I apply for the Biosocial Program if I am an unfunded Population Trainee? YES.
  7. In the future, do you recommend applying for both the Population and Biosocial Training Programs? NO.
  8. Can I work as a TA while participating in the Program? YES. Trainees may be approved to teach or assist for one semester, concurrent with the training program.
  9. Can I hold a job or have another Fellowship if I am selected as a Biosocial Trainee? NO. Rare exceptions to this will be considered.
  10. Is research travel compatible with the Training Program? YES.
  11. How do I acknowledge the T32 grant in publications and posters? Please visit the acknowledgement page of our website. There you will find the grant number (T32 HD091058) as well as various examples of ways to acknowledge the grant.
