Objective: To investigate the trends in overweight among Chinese adults in the age of 18-45. Methods: This paper was based on data collected in the China Health and Nutrition Survey in 1989, 1991, 1993, 1997and 2000, and the subjects were 18-45 years old healthy men and women. Results: In the period of 1989-2000, an increasing prevalence of overweight among Chinese adults was from 17.7% to 28.5%, faster in men than in women, and in the year of 2000, overweight prevalence was equal in men and women. The increasing rate was faster in 35-45 years old. In men, the difference of overweight prevalence between city and village was enlarging . In women, the difference was shortening.
