Topic: A Demonstration of AI for Rapid Analytics using Claude Code
We will illustrate the power and flexibility of modern AI coding tools through a real-time rapid analytic task. Through an interactive discussion with participants, we will build the basis of a preliminary data analysis, including accessing publicly available data, developing project databases, performing data visualization, and testing simple hypotheses.

Topic: Designing Agentic Workflows for Research
We’ll walk through how to design an agentic workflow: breaking a research task into steps, assigning distinct roles to AI agents, and building in adversarial checks, validation, and human oversight. We’ll use one research application as an example (a PRISMA scoping review), but the focus is on a general framework that can be adapted to many research tasks.

Topic: Notes on GenAI & LLMs for Research: Ethical & Practical Dimensions
This presentation will address ethical and practical dimensions of GenAI and LLMs for Applied Research, including but not limited to the environmental impacts of GenAI, labor conditions. Thereafter, we will discuss implications for information and health systems and downstream implications for population healthcare and health outcomes. Then, the concluding section walks through lessons learned from a NIH-funded project applying LLMs to develop clinical prediction models for maternal health outcomes using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and healthcare claims data.
