An article published in the February issue of the American Sociological Review reveals that a neighborhood’s native residents are more likely to move out as immigrants move to the area. The study, “Neighborhood Immigration and Native Out-Migration,” showed that native blacks and whites often move away for different reasons and discusses the factors that motivate their departures.

UNC sociologist and CPC Fellow Kyle Crowder co-authored the article with Matthew Hall and Stewart E. Tolnay.

Crowder was recently featured on North Carolina Public Radio discussing the study findings. Listen to the WUNC News interview here.

The Daily Tar Heel also published a story on Feb. 9 about the research here.
