CPC Fellow Dr. Kavita Arora

Carolina Population Center Fellow Dr. Kavita Arora received the prestigious Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, recognizing her outstanding work in her field.

She is an expert in disparities surrounding sterilization and reproductive bioethics. Her research covers contraceptive care, LGBTQ health, abnormal uterine bleeding, fibroids, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. She was also recently invited to serve on the National Advisory Child Health and Human Development Council.

Dr. Arora serves as the Director of the Division of General Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Midwifery and is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UNC Health. She is a core faculty member of the UNC Center for Bioethics. She is also active with national advocacy through the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the American Medical Association (AMA). Dr. Arora has published over 125 peer-reviewed articles, including in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), and has received funding from the NIH, HRSA, Greenwall Foundation, and the Society for Family Planning.
