The UNC Library system has launched a new online catalog, which has an updated look and improved functionality. The catalog is accessible from http://webcat.lib.unc.edu/.

The key improvement is in the search function: you can search the CPC Library catalog and all other campus library catalogs at the same time, or narrow your search to one library collection. Because the new catalog is just one module of an entire new system called Millennium, there are improvements in acquisitions, cataloging, and circulation as well. With the installation of Millennium, the CPC Library will join the campus library system in utilizing the automated system for circulation of CPC Library materials (more info on circulation at CPC Library will be forthcoming).

Though the search feature is fully functional, please note that CPC Library records may not display all information correctly. Such issues are being addressed, and hopefully they will be resolved in the next week or so. Contact CPC Library staff for any specific inquiries. If you would like a demonstration or training on searching the catalog, please stop by the CPC Library or send an e-mail to cpclib@unc.edu.

The UNC Library system has been preparing for this migration since 2003. Though many of the bugs have been worked out already, there will be new features added in the coming months and you may encounter quirks in the system. If you notice any, please report them to Lori Delaney, CPC Head Librarian, at lori_delaney@unc.edu.

In addition, when you are using the new catalog, if you identify any usability issues (navigation, access, display, etc), please notify Lori. She will report any recommendations to campus library staff who are working to improve the system on an on-going basis.
