Dr. Angela Parcesepe earned a PhD from UNC-CH in Maternal and Child Health. After serving as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the HIV Center for Clinical and Behavioral Studies at Columbia University, Dr. Parcesepe moved to UNC-CH to serve as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Maternal and Child Health.

With training in epidemiology and social work, Dr. Parcesepe's research focuses on the intersection of violence, mental and substance use disorders and HIV prevention and treatment across global settings. Dr. Parcesepe received a Career Development Award from the National Institute of Mental Health to examine the burden and impact of mental and substance abuse disorders on HIV treatment outcomes in the context of universal test and treat strategies in low-resource settings. She also is engaged in identifying promising strategies for integrating and scaling evidence-based mental health interventions into HIV care programs.
