A major thrust of recent national dietary guidance guidelines has been a restructuring of the American diet to reduce fat consumption and increase complex carbohydrate consumption. This paper examines cereal grain consumption patterns for children who do and do not participate in school lunch programs and considers how changes in meal pattern guidelines for the school lunch program might be used to promote more healthful diets.Reference Type
