Francis E. Johnston, world authority on human physical growth and development, died in his home on August 20, 2020, after a long decline due to Alzheimer disease. He retired as Professor Emeritus of Biological Anthropology in 2000 after a long career at the University of Pennsylvania. Johnston held many senior positions in national and international anthropological and other scientific organizations over the course of his career and was active in international societies as well. He supervised some 30 doctoral students who pursued careers in nutrition, medical research, hospitals, public health, government agencies, and anthropology.URL
