Abstract
This December, while the English-speaking world was mesmerised by the Duchess's pregnancy and hospital admission for hyperemesis, American airwaves were inundated by ‘hyperemesis experts’. Their commentaries and claims made me chuckle as I reflected on how little anyone knows about this phenomenon. Treatment consists of sedation, rehydration and tincture of time. Because it seldom results in loss of life, society invests next to nothing in understanding this condition.
