AbstractThe timeworn cliché ‘sex sells’ dates to the turn of the century in the USA when an advertising campaign for tyre stems based on sexuality greatly increased demand for the product. One hundred years later it seems the dominant approach in an array of media. One only has to open a web browser or newspaper to see this tactic in action.
