Labor Force Integration and Marital Choice in the United States and Germany. Boulder, Colo.: Westview Press.
Abstract
This study uses comparative panel data from the U.S. Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP) and the German Socioeconomic Panel (SOEP) to examine the relationship between labour-force integration and entry into marriage. It explores the correlation between employment status and the financial aspect of labour force integration and between enrolment status and the occupational role aspect. A general interpretation of the findings is accompanied by specific accounts of cross-national differences in the United States and in the Federal Republic of Germany.
